I have a 1936 Ford 5 Window Cpe that I an trying to build as a resto-rod. I am installing a 8CM flathead (49-51 Merc engine w/bellhousing). But I also want to install a Mustang II front suspension. What do I need to do to accomplish this task? I ask this because it appears that the various manufacturers of such a suspenion system include the crossmember which looks like will not adapt to the flathead because of its front engine mounts.

Not that I know all there is about this subject, but I used side mounts on a 49 Merc motor in my old T-Bucket, TOON T. In any case, there must be ways to build something that will pick up the front mount of your motor. Call in some engineering friends and let them have a go at designing something.
I would think that perhaps clearance for your oil pan might be a bigger issue. My 49 Merc motor sat so low that we had to section and fill the pan to get clearance and capacity. The cross member of the IFS system might have you into something similar.
Just some friendly thoughts… good luck…
