Spray can paint job.

I'm building a traditional T bucket and want to go with the primered look. Has any one painted an area this large with spray cans before? It seems like it could be done if the prep was done right. I'm on a tight budget and am looking for ways to save money. Is this worth the trouble or should I save up and have a shop do it?

Thanks in advance.

Take a look at my Firehawks page here:
http://members.aol.com/davidne910/firehawks.html

On the white `01, the rear bumper and the bottom half of both doors were painted with Dupli-Color spray cans. On the red `95, the right rear fender and rear bumper were done the same way. Both were durable (some of the pics of the red one were a year after painting) and neither has faded or cracked. The only think I would be worried about in your case, since your using flat paints, is making sure there are no "streaks".
I know someone who painted an entire Maverick with Krylon flat black primer. It actually doesn`t look too bad. Wont win any shows though.
