i just got the new issue in the mail and am dissapointed that the street rod content is being watered down with 50's cars and according to the editorial will soon include large square 60's cars as well. i own a mid-fifties ford truck, so it's not that i dislike 50's vehicles, it's just that there are plenty of other magazines out there that already cater to this type of vehicle. i think street rodder magazine was the last "pure" street rod (pre '48) magazine available. what do you think?

I agree that SRM has been THE Street Rodding Authority.  For that reason I've made a long term commitment via subscription.  I look at the competitor magazines, but I always look forward to SRM for its pure street rod content.

We've been at this place before (and
Custom Rodder was born).  I expect we may travel this road again.

See you down the road,
PHIL

personally with Custom Rodder being gone i couldn't be happier that Street Rodder is taking on some of the content covered in C.R. in my opinion with the addition of post '48 cars it should make for a nice well rounded magazine

I do not like the past 48 coverage I have owned such cars but when I pick up Street Rodder that is what I want to read about.  The is not much I can do about it as my subsription runs to 2016. Just cry about it I guess.

As long time reader of Street Rodder, I would like it to stay all street rods.  I like all things automotive, but I can get post '48 info other places.  I hate seeing all things 'street rod' watered down because of money.(more attendence, more subscription, nad etc.)

Disappointed? so many talk about limiting "Street Rods" to pre-48 now many cars at your local show are more than 10 years old?

Just look at the  feature cars and ad's how may cars were around in 1930

Reproduction cars are so common and accepted as Street Rods but yet they are "NEW" aren't they?
Just because it looks like a 32 Ford does not make it one.

As for "pure" how many Street Rods are build the way they were in the 50's Would you want to have your Rod without AC, Power steering, radial tires and all other other things that make Rods what they are today.

After all who said 48 was the magic year,
What makes its so special?

So what he Big Three made many style changes when the 49 came out but how many changes did each go thru to get to 1948?

Meaning the 32 ford looks nothing like a 37 and that looks nothing like a 48 same with all the other makers (ok maybe divco was the odd ball for not changing LOL)

At least myself and other post 48 builders still generally start our builds with original cars/trucks.

I for one Welcome the post 48's to already great magazine.
