So i am new to street rods. I am attemting to build a 29 model a sedan and need a little help.I am building a frame out of 2x4 steel. Can anyone tell me what would be a good chevy axle to use that doesn't need to be cut down. I plan on using a coil over design. And another thing. Would a 4 inch drop axle look funny with a stock front crossmember and no fenders. I plan on going fenderless for now but put them on when the funds become available. Any info would be great.

Why do you want to use a Chevy rear end?

Mostly cost. I can pick up a uses s-10 axle or full size for about 100 bucks. A 8.8 ford or 9 inch are more money and harder to come by.

It might be easier to just spend the money on the Ford axle than try to get a Chevy axle.

You can pick up an explorer read end with limited slip and disc brakes for $100. Thats the way to go. much tougher than an S-10 for sure. Not good for a drag car but a tone of rodders use them. they are nice and short too.
