I was thinking about building a 48 chevy truck as a nostalgia salt flat truck with a duramax turbo diesel.  That got me thinking about the diesel engines place in the street rod world.  GM just came out with a 4.5 with 310hp 520 torque  wieghing similar to a 350( i dont know about that).  considering gas prices id make and burn my own bio and drive this truck 45 min to work everyday.  But would this be something rodders would be interested in?  could i build them and sell them?  would anyone buy one?  (im an engineer that hates my job, looking to retire and do soemthing fun)  probably start with a couple glass 32 ford coupes.  

I think thats an awesome idea, thats what Hot Rodding is all about, innovation. I could go for 520 tq. in a street rod!
