Who uses it, and who uses regular insurance? What has been your experience.

My experience with collector ins. (Grundy) has been excellent. I currently have 2 rods insured with them and its much less expensive than regular ins. and its agreed value.
This last August while a group of us were returning from a rod run in Victoria BC (Deuce Day) a friend experienced a mechanical failure on his 32 coupe. The car was totaled but fortunatly no one was hurt. He also was ins. by Grundy and over the phone they agreed to pay the full agreed value, then they allowed him to buy it back for $4,500. He has resold the car for $12,000. I figured he is about $7,500 ahead and can replace the car.

Yeah, I've always been a little confused by the agreed value, but i guess it better then a regular insurance company saying your car is only worth a couple grand because thet don't understand the value in an old car.

Agreed Value is THE only way to insure a Collector car. The 32 coupe had an Agreed value of $30,000, he recieved $25,500 after buying the car back. He sold it to annother rodder for $12,000. So doing the math he is actually ahead by $7,500, $37,500 should replace the car. I just bought a new vette and for about the same $ I can fully insure it, use it daily and have the added benefits of agreed value.
BTW I'm not in the insurance game.
