Hi, I am visiting Orlando Florida for two weeks in Feruary 08 with my family. I really would like to see some real live rods, a swap meet, local show, club meet, drive in or whatever, just some real rods. It will be my first visit to the USA since 1963 as a fourteen year old. So any advice please? I have tried the Orlando visitors site and they only have a racing stock car show. I make half size Land Rovers here in the UK from wood!
Cheers
Rich.

Hi Rich
Don't know if you knew, but there is a cruise on at Old Town, Kissimee on a saturday night which is well worth a visit, I haven't been for a few years, but a friend went last year and said it was a really good evening.
Bob (Nitro1471) from the UK as well

I did some searching, but I couldn't find anything. You might want to try to contact a local car club or Hot Rod shop.

It's good to hear we have rodders on the other side of the pond!

Hi rich, Doug again. If you get to Old Town cruise, there are tons of neat stores and an amusement are if you have kids. Check out the Irish/Scottish shop. Also check out the Shirt embroidery shop (forgot the name) his wife is from England, nice lady.
Seraech OLD TOWN, FL on net should pop up. DO NOT stay at the Days Inn a dump!

Enjoy Doug

Thank you all for the advice and especially Steve who sent the great magazine Cruise News. We have about eight cruises to choose from near Orlando. Can't wait.

There is a great show on Feb 2nd.

The Groundhog Day Gala put on by the Rumblers.
its an old school car club, and the show is awesome.
lots of cars, vendors and live rockabilly music

- The location will be at Cowboys 1108 South Orange Blossom Trail

as far as shops,  Total Performance is up at Destination Daytona.   Great retail shop with cars on display,  the build shop is not far either, out in Bunnell

hope this helps

It will involve an 50 km drive from Orlando but you may be interested in the Don Garlits Museum,  It will be quite a primer on drag racing from the eary 60's on forward and Don's hot rod, custom car and drag machines are on display and are unique.

Also, if you make it to South Florida, there is a dynamite cruize night every Friday night at the Home Depot parking lot in Davy Florida just West of Ft. Lauderdale.

Hope this helps, I am not a Floridian.
