Well as you may have heard, it is a very sad day in the car customizing world. Boyd Coddington died around 6 a.m. this morning at the age of 63.

Boyd Coddington had a major impact in this hobby, and his presence will be greatly missed.

To all:

My thoughts and prayers go out to Boyd's family & friends.

I had hoped to Interview him for my "Legends" Series which I put online last year.

But, our paths didn't cross and I am so sorry that I couldn't document his history & voice for all to hear for the years to come.

He had a terrific impact on everyone he touched and every car he produced.  The "Cadzilla" is one of my all-time favorites, and the one that brought me back to my R & C roots.

Sincerely,

Jonnie King

R.I.P. Boyd. Now another show I loved watching will probably be gone! Found this link and it seems they are not disclosing the cause of death. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2008/02/27/state/n103701S80.DTL&type=health

While I didn't care for him from what I saw on his show, I respected the skill he had and the originality of his show cars.  He was a talented builder and I will forever be grateful for the car that started my love of street rods, Cadzilla.

Love him or hate him, he has influenced almost every car that has graced the pages of street rodder for the last 20 years.

I would have to agree with mpiersd, I didn't care for him as well, "Or his wife" the show where they fired that girl. really change my opinion of them. That pissed me off. Unfair! ..But to the cars that rolled out of there... hats off to all the guys that helped him become what he was. I'm sorry for his family loss. and to the others that loved him. I hope that they still roll out cars in memory of him. But I will still have my opinion about him.

To all...

I have added a Special Tribute Page to Boyd on my Hall of Fame Legends WebSite.

I have had many positive responses to it so far, and hope, if you have time, you will be able to view it.

Boyd was truly one of the great innovators of the last 25 years...and will truly be missed.

Being a former GGuys rep and working with Boyd and his wife Jo. I can say I will miss Boyd, The Boyd I knew was nothing like the TV Boyd.
Both he and Jo always came from behind the lines to greet my wife and myself. in 2005 they both treated my great nephew Mike like he was the only person waiting to get an picture with them.
Jo even took him to meet Boyd personally.
JO: Both Pearl and I will be keeping you in our Prayers.
Love to you Jake Perry Columbus, Ohio

Boyd Cottington was an icon in the Street Rod world. Always produced top notch cars and his innovations will be with us always as part of our industry.

The TV series was never anything I could watch however. Had it been more about fabrication and street rodding, and less about SOAP OPERA and all the foul mouth, it would have been a much better series.

RIP Boyd

I think the TV show Boyd should be taken with a grain of salt.  Drama makes good TV and selective editing can make people appear totally different than reality.  I saw Boyd and his wife at the PRI show in Orlando and did not want to bug them by saying hello, but now I wish I had introduced myself.  The hobby has lost a great innovator and business man.
