Yes, I will be putting a Ford in a Chevy. It is the 4.6 SOHC from a 1994 Marquis. Cheap due to a light front end collision. Just wondering if anyone has done this before, or know of anyone. The car already has the MII installed. I want to use the entire drivtrain, with the FI. Any input? Thanks, Mike

It won't be any different than putting it in a Ford, Dodge or ????It may even be easier because of the added length in the engine compartment because of the removed straight 6. You're lucky enough to have the donor car so you can pull the wiring harness and linkage to make the installation almost headache free.

Almost headache free? Wouldn't THAT be nice! I guess I should have clarified my question. Does anyone out there know of prefabbed mounts for this combo, or to put the 4.6 in, as in universal/cut to fit parts? With the exception of my first car, a '66 Fairlane, and a '78 one ton Ford work truck, (LOOONG story on that) I have been Chevy all my life, so not TOO far up on the Ford family mounting system(s). Fabbing is fun for me, but if there are parts out there, I can spend that time on other areas that are bound to come up during the almost headache free install. We live for that, don't we?

A little update. The 4.6 is a BIG engine. After pulling tape and checking things out, the engine is about 1" wider than my inner fender panels, so blisters are in order. Still not quite sure if it will fit UNDER the fenders. I will have to bolt the aft end of the fender on and fab some supports to hold up the front of the fenders while I shuck and jive the engine/tranny around. More later.

You also have a Ford in a Chevy? That must raise some eyebrows, like mine will. I wish it was a little Windsor. I have a 289 sitting on a stand in the garage and marvel at how big the 4.6 is compared to an old Ford tiny block... A Windsor would fit in there just fine, except for the pan having the sump up front. Reckon I am bound and determined to exercise the adapt and overcome section of my brain. Left brain, away!

Nice engine choice there should be plenty of parts available since the 4.6 was such a widely used motor. Heck they are still using it in some form right?
