I'm currently building a 48 Ford pickup and haven't quite figured out the suspension yet. It will have an airbag suspension and a four link rear but I'm not sure what I can use for the front. I was thinking maybe an S-10, has anyone converted or updated an older truck like this one, or know what may work well?

A friend of mine is building a 51 using c4 corvette parts. Beautiful and very cheap. i think he said he paid about $600 for all the front end stuff. Best part is the look. All aluminum, looks super!!

The easiest is a MII kit, but get one from a manufacturer that also offers airbag conversions., that way you can change over at a later date. Mine is low enough I can knock over a cigarette pack.

The best fit, from a donor, is the XJ6 Jaguar. I put one in my 48 F1 and I have pictures in my galley on the web page: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum41/ . Go to the members section and look under # for 48Steel. You will find the install for my IFS, IRS and Comanche Gas tank.

I just did a 48 for pickup on a s-10 chassis and it worked ok- i strched it 5.5 inches and you need to to run some crazy wheel spacers or offset wheels. it goes down the road nice and I have air ride on it
