If your talking a Mustang ll front end. it was pretty easy. I just did one on a 48 Mercury. Read the directions about a million times and went for it. First time I ever done anything like that. Had a buddy of mine do all the welding for me. Just cause he was a buddy and he welds for a living so I didn't tempt it. It was a fat man fabrication. Drives good.

there's a company in so. cal called walton fabrication that specializes in the 50's chevy. & rod & custom mag has articles about their kits; sounds like a good source for what you're doing. also jamco, in so. cal. is making stuff for the 50's chevys. maybe some of the low rider guys may have some stuff. the front suspensions appear to be similar to my 50 ford, & I put a chev cavalier power rack & pinion using a kit from fatman & it works great. hope this helps.

First, there are no stupid questions in the street rodding world. I have been bangin' on old cars since 1957 and still learning....all part of the fun.
I presume the old worm & sector is thin? There is a adjustment on the box. Look for the slotted thread comming out of the center of a one inch nut. If only 3 threads are showing, you have adjustment. Jack up the car with tires hanging free. >FRAME STANDS< Make certain box is packed full of grease. Loosen the nut. Run the thread in a half a turn at a time. Feel the wheel turning side to side each time you tighten. Any drag yet? Keep tightening till you feel drag then back off half a turn. Drag gone? Check entire front end. Grab tires top & bottom and shake...loose? King pins & busings are gone. Tie rod ends, drag link ends, etc.

If worn ? what else is worn? Thinking about power disc brakes. Sounds like time for a TCI MII kit.
Hello to the real world of hot rodding !!
