Have a car that gets noticed by one of our editors at a show, just remember not every well built car can get in, the magazine has constraints for how many features will fit.

I had a custom mini truck that was in mini trucking, you need to be at all the car shows such as Goodguys, NSRA, ISCA in your area have a great looking ride. I was in the right place at the right time and got lucky, I was at a mini trucking show and had something a bit different...
I hope this helps, good luck

Thanks for the info. My car is the 23 primered on readers rides. Very unique and built with only the best and right hand drive. Thanks again.

Don't feel bad if your car never gets featured in Street Rodder, bro. I had a car that went top 5 in '07 for Goodguys Street Rod Of the Year, it has won a Pro Pick everywhere its been shown, it went top 5 again in '08 for Goodguys America's Most Beautiful Street Rod, Street Rodder Picked it as a top 10 in Columbus, and they picked it 3 different times as a editors pick award at 3 different ISCA shows and mine wasn't good enough in Brennan's eyes to run. So, honestly, I have no idea what it takes to get in this magazine. Goodluck.

Right place and right time has a lot to do with it as its impossible for every vehciel to be featured.
A feature article, if that is what is the most important to you, can be a costly, time consuming and depressing journey.
Why not build it the best way you can and then enjoy the heck out of it? Is that not why most of us are doing it?
You know, when the kid in the back seat of the car next to you smiles, gives you a thumbs up and screams to the parents to look at your car...
Attitude when the opportunity presents itself may also be a deal breaker. Magazine staff has heard every reason in the book on why this car should be featured.
Be happy and appreciative should you ever be approached, irregardless of whom takes a picture of your ride. You just never know...
Now. I drive mine like I stole it this morning and will die by the end of the day...
Get it out and feel the air on your elbow ;-)
A feature article will not radically change your life.

It's only metal, It does not know if it is on a 50 Merc, or on a Lambo. Make it do what you want.

It seems that most of the cars they chose are because they're award-winners or show vehicles. They may not have any miles on them when they get shot, but having Best Paint from your local burger cruise or Goodguys award means little if it isn't the type of car they want. And ISCA judges pick those ISCA awards in the magazine's name--rarely do editors go to those shows. The hot tip for anyone is to send a photo of their car to the editor with a description of what it is. The magazine covers trends, so if it's like the type of car they're doing at the time, then you're in. If it isn't, or you think it's great because some guy who doesn't know what he's looking at gave you a Best Bitchin' award, then you're out. They're a lot more impressed if you drive it rather than towing it around to indoor car shows.
