My grandfather was a huge rodder...i can remember being young and helpin him work in his garage and i loved it and it will be with me forever...my first car was a 63 ford fairlane 500..that with the help of my friends and family turned out to be a real nice car...Mu grandfather passed away in 95 and all of his cars that he had lying around were passed to my great uncle...he had a 48 chrysler new yorker 2 door club coupe that he didnt really want anything to do with so he asked me if i wanted it to finish so i jumped on it...the body is actually in great shape...it has the spitfire 8 in it and everything but the seats are there....i am in the proccess of tryin to get this old beast running again but what does a 22 year old kid do to a new yorker...I am really into roadsters and coupes but as of right now being a college student that is really out of question...so my question is what style would you go for...how can i make this the coolest new yorker anyone has ever seen.

30 + views and no reply's Shame on us...

48Chrysler. Many of us were shaped by cars that came across our life in ways not predictable.

What do you want? What is cool to you. Nobody else matters.

Make it a shrine to someone that provided you with an entry into this passion.

Then if the right opportunity to swap for the next right thing, you'll know it

Do not try to force it, let it come by it self.

You'll know what to ***

It's only metal, It does not know if it is on a 50 Merc, or on a Lambo. Make it do what you want.

thanks for the reply cutomike

This car is really special to me so it is going to be an emotional trip...I told my grandmother what i was doing and she just started crying...(she just might be the coolest lady in the world...she can tell what ind of motor is in a car just by hearing it run)

But I have never seen another new yorker customized...should i take off the chrome...paint the chrome...its defiantly getting bagged...and i think im going to do a leopard skin interior..(my grandmother owned an interior shop for decades so i have all the equipment) I would really love to re do the chrome but there is too much pot metal and that is just to much money..

A New Yorker is custom the way it is. You'll make it yours and special and you'll have gramps with you all of the time you drive it. Paint or powdercoating are options for the chrome.

If you know interior, go wild and have fun.
