With all the trouble it is to make a gm power steering pump work on the ford rack-pinion why doesn't someone just make a bracket to bolt the ford pump(that works with the rack-pinion) to a chevy V-8 ? No special hoses , no messing with shims and springs ,no blowing out the seals ,etc. Seems like less of a hassle-I don't have a ford pump laying around to eye it up , has anyone done this ?

No answers yet for you but I am kind of in the same boat (mopar going into a 47 chevy w/mus. II front end)Didn't know about the psi difference in the manufactures pumps. I am currently deployed right now so I don't have any pumps to eyeball. I am most likely going to use a ford pump, fab the brackets and get the hoses made in the next town over. A shop there will make hyd. lines to your spec. and attach the fittings. When I get home, I will let you know how it turns out. Thank you for the heads up on the seal blowing issue.
