I have a few older cars I have modified but never done a full blown Rod. I have a 1993 Buick Road master wagon as a donor car for what ever. I am looking at buying a 1951 DeSoto ( I just like the looks ) Do you think if I cut the whole front under-carriage off the Buick. It would graft under the DeSoto? I know I'll have to measure when i get it, but that's weeks away and I was just curious at this point. I'm not going to even try to use the air suspension , just good heavy duty shocks. A new front rear sway bar set up and well I guess just what ever else I see as I go.I plan to try to use everything possible from the Buick. Great Lt engine and tranny hopefully the rear will fit under. I'm sure there must be an outfit to make a harness so I can use the engine computer. I know there will be a ga-zillion small items to deal with but that should be fun, when I'm not stuck. Well if anyone cares to remark here I 'd like to hear you're opinion. Thanks Woodie

A friend once bought a beautiful early '50s Chevy pickup that had engine/trans/suspension/ steering/etc from a full-size Oldsmobile. It looked great and went fast...In a straight line. When the front suspension was grafted onto the Chevy frame, the steering geometry got all screwed up, and nobody seemed to know how to fix it. It was basically out of control every time it went around a corner. The front tires were fighting each other for control of where the car was going to go. So, if you end up with the front suspension narrower than it originally was, expect problems. Good luck.
