Maybe I am the only one that doesn't know this, but I have to ask.  A buddy of mine says the '34 has a distinct grill that projects forward at the bottom where is comes to a point.  I say the '33 grill does the same thing.  I have been looking at pictures trying to tell.  What's the scoop?

Over 270 viewings and no one can take the time to reply?  What gives guys.  Somebody has got to know the answer to this or it is such a stupid question that I am the only one that does not know.  In any case can someone please post an answer, comment, snide remark or something?  I am new to this site, but look forward to lots of good stuff.  Kind of a slow start so far.   Frown

1933 and 1934 Fords have the same basic shape of grill.  Both have a point at the bottom.  The only difference is that the the grill bars on the 1933 grill have a slight curve to them and narrow around the edge of the grill.  The 34 grill had straight bars and was wider around the edge of the grill.

54belair... You win!

The 33 grille does have a curve, It matches the curve louvers on the hood side panels. The 34 grille is straight, as it matches the straight louvers on it's hood sides.

Being a 34 owner for over 40years, I like both of them.

Thanks guys, finally some answers.  This latest Street Rodder has shots of a '33 and a '34 but pictures were not close enough to tell. There certainly seems to be a lot more '34s than '33s from what I have seen.  Was that a production numbers issue or was the '34 popular for some other reason?

Most of the fiberglass and steel reproductions are marketed as 1934.  There are probably more reproduction bodies on the road now than were made in both years originally.

I'm a new guy as well, here goes the first post!

I believe that the 33 hood sides are an inch longer than a 34 as well, I think it makes up the distance of the thinner grill surround.  As someone who has just started a 33/34 roadster project, I too have noticed that more companies market a 34 body than 33s.  The Henry Ford doors are different on the two years, the 34 has a flat piece along the rear edge of the window opening.  The window would slide back before rolling down.

I prefer the 33 grill over a 34, but am good with either.
