I was wondering if anyone can help me with a manual steering box swap.  I own a 64 F100 2wd with a straight axcl.  I need to change out the stock steering box with somthing new.  The stock unit incorporates the steering shaft that is inside the column.  I plan on changing the colum as well.  Has anyone done this or can offer any help.  I am open to any sugjestions and ideas.  How bout a Vega box??  Oh, Im keeping the stock axcl as well.

sal64F100 try Unisteer they have rack & pinion steering for a bunch of differant applications, they can possibly build you one if they don't allready have one.   also maybee www.hotrodhotline.com they have a good parts & venders list.  3836bbl/Budnicks

Unfortunately NONE of the after market companies make a column for this truck.  They only start with 1965 and up.  I have not looked at unisteer yet.  Hopefully they pan out!  Thanks

You will probly have to use a universal column type the length, mount, diam. & type of shaft you need are what is critical you can allways add an extension & swivel joint. I don't think Unisteer has columns, I think they are just boxs & racks.

My choise would be any Saginaw box from 70-80's GM's. Would be large enough to handle a F-100. One word of caution. Be sure whatever box you choose that the pitman shaft turns in correct rotation as the original. Some are reverse rotation.
I can attest to that as I almost installed one from a Ford Ranger on my '41 Ford. It appeared to be an almost exact match for my original 1941 box but was reverse
rotation on the output shaft. Scary thought!!! Think Vega box may be a bit light.
