Has anyone looked into using the disc brake assembly from a 1980 through I believe, 1983 F100 Ford pickup.  These were 5-lug on 4-1/2 bolt pattern.  I am not sure what the bearing data is, or if they would fit early ford spindles. Has anyone tried??

tejas34 1st off Welcome, there is a way they might work if you have enough room for races & bearings I don't know the sizes of the early ford spindles, If I remember correctly they are smallish in size. I used them on most of my Alterds & Dragsters for spindle mount wheels. The depth & offset of the 80-83 truck rotors may be an issue. There was a company I use to use for custom bearings & races Delta Bearing in Pittsburg Ca. I have not been there in years I don't know if they are still open. You would need the inside diamiter of the brake rotors inside & out also the outside diamiters of the E/F spindles inside & out. You would imagine you would have to fab your own caliper mounts. Allmost anything can be done with that right welder, machine work & some enginuity.   3836bbl

I believe that the F100 units could be used, but after a little thought about costs I think it would not be a good deal. Unless you have your own machine shop, the cost of work and labor would be more than what after market units run. Oh well it was just a thought from an ole do it yourselfer!  Thanks for bringing me back to the real world.   tejas34

Try FatMan Fabrications, Fat Jack makes alot of stuff for early ford up to 1956. You can allways go with a Willwood type set up they are kind of lite duty though. The early Ford type king pin spindles are realy popular in open-car Drag race cars Alterds & dragsters. Look at www. hotrodhotline.com they have a decent parts section & directory.  3836bbl
